Above are the during, after, and after after photos. It wasn't until a few hours later that an Indian workmate informed us only woman have henna tattoos and we will probably be laughed at for the duration of our stay in India because of it (these temporary tattoos can last for a several weeks).

P.S. I was told if the henna tattoo appears to get darker in the days after its application, this means your current or future parents-in-law will love you (the darker the better). I'll keep you informed as to the outlook of this future relationship.
