After choosing the 10 videos below, I noticed the common thread was great music. Apparently that's what makes an emotional and memorable ad for me.
Iron Sky - The movie I'm most excited for next year. A true labor of love by its creators. Fans not only contributed ideas/art/time but also funds to help the projected off the ground and become reality (much like the future movie Rome Sweet Rome). I initially read about this project in early 2009 and cannot be more happy it has become reality.
Forza 4 - Who knew a promo for a racing simulator video game could be so powerful and emotional. Featuring commentary from (soon to be ex?) Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
Jordan XXI (alongside original footage) - Again, it's the music that makes it. Even better seeing the original footage of Jordan alongside the recreated scenes for the commercial.
John Carter - Not sure why, but this movie trailer hooked me immediately. I can only hope the actual movie lives up to this trailer.
TRON - The original trailer was good. This is better... Jeff Bridges!
Gears of War - Beautiful ad for such a hardcore violent game.
Mac Switch Ad - "It's kind of..................... a bummer."
HBO Documentary Films Promo - I remember seeing this at home back in Denver and searching out the featured song. Wish there was a better online version.
Adidas: Impossible Is Nothing (Nadia) - Great use of the original footage.
Inception/Zombie President - I remembered seeing an ad for Inception that I really liked. I must have watched 5 or 6 Inception movie trailers but none seemed to match the imagery and music I remembered. I started to get frustrated and after some rigorous thought realized I wasn't remembering a trailer for the actual movie, but a separate short trailer that only used the Inception trailer's music. It's still technically a trailer so I have put it below. The trailer was made on the NSFW Show podcast #34. This is a podcast I watch weekly and this episode is great. If you have an hour, try it out.
